AST Photos was a project I took up when I began to pursue amateur photography more seriously. I had been experimenting with an open-source software program called Gallery, when I met someone online who showed me another site called Cafepress. Cafepress allows independent artists to more easily sell their work online by taking control of the fulfillment while we upload our art. This has been my personal exercise in e-commerce and online marketing over the last few years, and I have successfully earned a decent supplemental income from it.

Besides the e-commerce aspect of the site, I have also used it as an online portfolio. The focus has been on Boston photography, but I have also included New York, wedding photos, and even fashion shows. It has served as a photo portfolio where I have been hired for Wedding Save-the-Dates, company postcards, wedding gift favors, and, in early 2007, having my prints and ceramic tiles for sale in the Prudential Skywalk Gift Shop.
