WSI InFlight - PIREPsDesktop ApplicationsJanuary 2005Before working on the interface for the newer version of InFlight, I was asked to help with the display of a new feature, PIREPs (Pilot Reports). The problem was that the display of the information was not as intuitive as it needed to be, and the Aviation department wanted a fresh look. After discovering that the symbols displayed the 'type' and the numbers were height ranges, I believed it to be more intuitive to display the upper portion of the ceiling above the lower in some manner. Whether the symbol appeared left of the overlaid heights, or the heights appeared above and below the symbol, we thought either was an enhancement. It worked. Our test group was able to read the PIREPs faster and get the information they needed. We used the version where the range was above and below the weather type. Relevant link: Tools used:
