CD Design

May 2002

SnowShore deals with media servers. This company already had strong marketing in place and standards to follow. 4SLICE was called in to assist with mass CD production through Advanced Digital Replication. The project was 2 part: CD cover design and an web brochure interface that popped up when inserted into a computer.

The colors are blue and orange and it was important to use the correct font and the snowflake. To save on costs, the CD needed to be 2 color. Their marketing department suggest a centered snowflake with text around it, and have 1 more original idea. I presented the first of the CDs in the image, and then its inverse upon request. My original design was chosen for tradeshow presentation. Guidelines for this: 1) Have the layout and colors resemble the current website (very important), 2) only have 1 page launch with files, and a link to the website. Although I knew they would pretty much go with design 2 from the start, I did design 1 as another viable option. It was slick in design, and actually resembled the 4SLICE site a lot.

Both had grey/white as the content area color, but SnowShore pointed out that they had a baby blue in their palette and preferred it. The selected page is pretty much a snapshot of their current site with slight modifications. The CDs were designed and a master sent to Advance Digital Replication to produce in time for a pressing conference where these would be handed out. SnowShore looks to come back to us for future CDs.
